About Us
 
The Rocky Gap Volunteer Fire Department is a dedicated group of volunteers commited to protecting the lives and property of those who live, work, travel, and visit in the Rocky Gap area of Bland County, Virginia.
 
We provide 24/7 response to all types of emergency calls ranging from fires and vehicle accidents to floods and hazardous materials spills.  We also provide mutual aid to the 5 other volunteer fire departments in Bland County during all "structure fires" and major incidents.  Upon request we provide mutual aid to other departments in Giles County and Tazewell County, Virginia and Mercer County, West Virginia.

All Bland County Fire Departments operate off of a county wide fire radio system.  Rocky Gap Volunteer Fire Department primarily operates off of the East River Mountain Fire Repeater.  The frequency for the county wide fire radio system and the East River Fire Repeater is 154.250

 

The Bland County Rescue Squad operates off of a seperate radio system from the county's fire departments.  The frequency for the rescue squad radio system is 155.955

The Rocky Gap Volunteer Fire Department is the primary response department for the following Bland County communities:

Additionally, the department covers approximately 6 miles of Interstate 77 North and South from the East River Mountain Tunnel on the Virginia/West Virginia border to Exit 58 at Bastian, Virginia.
